Hidden Harbor Tours®
Hidden Harbor Charters
Special Hidden Harbor Tours®

The primary activity of WHC is the sponsorship of tours of New York and New Jersey's working waterfront – places that are normally hidden from the eyes of most area residents and visitors. We call them Hidden Harbor Tours®.

Annual Great North River Tugboat Race & Competition
Labor Day Weekend at Manhattan's Pier 84. The event includes a parade of tugs, the race itself, nose-to-nose and line toss competions and other contests such as best tatoo and the infamous spinach-eating contest.

An introduction to our working waterfronts, with an emphasis on job opportunities available in the maritime industry and educational requirements needed to achieve these jobs.

Senior's Programs
Thanks to a grant from Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer, the Working Harbor Committee has provided free Hidden Harbor Tours® to seniors from Manhattan senior centers

Young Sailor's Program
The Young Sailor’s Program, started in 2006 by NYC Council Member Alan Gerson, introduces about 120 junior high school students to the maritime world.

Winter Film Evenings
The 2010 event on 4 February, with Bill Miller and the classic film On the Waterfront, was a big success. All agreed that Bill Miller was sensational with his first-hand memories of life on the Hoboken waterfront, where the film was shot. And the film itself, considered by many to be one of the 10 best US films ever made, was great.
